Top ten hungriest states… meaning most food insecure, the most hungry children going to bed at night… Texas makes the list.

I think it should be mandatory that grocery stores donate expired/ready to expire food. Every place I have worked just tosses it into the dumpster. And I also think it should be a rule that you can't sue for getting sick if you eat expired donated food or food from a dumpster. Greed and being sue happy are the problems.

Our grocery store does that. A pick-up truck load of food daily! It's a win-win because our community gets the food and Food Lion gets a tax deduction.

One of the challenges is that most food banks don't have the amount of cold storage required to accommodate the amount of food waste that grocery stores have. There are grants available to obtain that cold storage but it's a process that many food banks don't have the capability to accomplish, especially if they are a small, church-based food bank.

Yet we belittle those who take advantage of food stamps, and wic, and the like. Go figure.

Americans value the wealth of capitalists over the basic needs of ordinary people. That's the priority.

Or we value the ability to kill people over the ability to feed people…

No, but as a capitalist society, changing to a more communistic form of government would be a lot harder to achieve than the lessening of a military budget.

And since a lessening of the military budget would solve the problem…

Boeing, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, and others may beg to differ.
