Well that's the problem, isn't it?

"The Squad" or "socialists" might be "far left" but they don't represent the Democratic party because of the enormous counterweight provided by the mainstream, center-left base represented by milquetoast leaders like Biden and Harris, Warren and Buttigieg, Pelosi and Schumer. They are lame but at least we can say who they are.

There are no counterweights to the extremism of Trump and DeSantis in the 2023 Republican party who anyone is willing to admit they support.

Ah yes. The same people that try to claim a cartoon alluding to the possibility of gay people is detrimental to children, but have no problem with giant Nazi flags and racial slurs greeting children as they enter a children’s theme park.

SIL was taking her kids to Disney and they saw this crap while driving in. She had to explain to my 6 year old nephew what all that was. Freaking horrible.

Damn, that’s a good point. I couldn’t get past the sign to think about the hypocrisy.

Yeah. Just because that person will vote Republican, that still doesn’t mean that the Republican Party supports the actions of that individual or that individual represents the Republican party. Just as if a BDS supporter intends to vote for a Squad member, that doesn’t mean the Democratic party are all antisemitic or against Israel or that individual represents the Democratic Party.

Surely if someone is supporting a Republican candidate for President (Ron DeSantis, in this case), that's a good indication that they intend to vote Republican?

I agree when it comes to the individual voter. However, the Republican party has a well orchestrated avenue where they can present to the voters who actually they support (the Democrats don't have an equivalent). This is marketed as the agenda and face of the party as a whole. When CPAC speakers are comprised of white nationalists, white supremacists, and Victor F***ing Orban, you can pretty much bet that the picture of the handful of voters in the post are in fact representative of the Republican party.

You can't pick who likes you but you sure can pick who you like.

The party isn't about talking heads though. Millions of people are supporting what the right is coming to stand for. I was a Republican for more than 30 years and I never pictured it like this. It's becoming radical.

But I'm still the winner! They lied! They cheated! They stole the election!

DeSantis, Abbott, and most of all, Trump have consistently encouraged this kind of behavior.

It could be simply they don't want Biden to run again and are looking for alternatives. Or in my case I am Republican simply because I wish to vote against DeSantis, Vivek, and Trump in Florida's closed primary. If Biden decides not to run again, which is doubtful I'll vote independent or Democratic. There is a group called No Labels that's trying to get an independent into the running. I'd be fine with that depending on who it is.
