I have heard dreads can hurt at first. Maybe that is what she means.

I think they are ugly and look dirty and unkept (esp white) on any race. So I say hell no.
Those are so nasty and filled with germs BUT it is his hair. As long as he knows that if he changes his mind he will have to shave them off it should be his choice
