Was I rude?!

I thought my poodle would love it. I got him a private room, lavender mist, private walk, playtime with the other dogs and ice cream treat at night...He acted the biggest fool. They sent a pic of him and he looked like he was being held hostage. Maybe we keep him in too long for his first time away from us. He stayed 7 days.

It sounds like you tried hard for it to be a positive experience! He probably just missed you! 7 days is long.

While she was rude to agree to something then change her mind I think it was rude of you in the first place to ask her to drive there. I would never make it harder for someone to do me a favor.

Seriously wasn’t trying to make things hard and under different circumstances there is no way I’d expect her to drive to pick him up here. With this scenario though, we had to be somewhere by 3 pm and she worked until 5pm so us bringing him to her place wasn’t a good option just because he has never been there before and doesn’t know the space well. The original plan was alway for her to pick him up. That was a huge part of the favour. The moment she said she wouldn’t, I told her I didn’t need her to watch him anymore without pushing it.
Most families do favors for each other.

Where did I say they didn't? I said I wouldn't make it harder for someone to do me a favor. My brother and dh's aunt and uncle have watched our fur baby when we were on vacation because he hates being kenneled. I would never dream of asking them to drive an hour round trip to our house to pick him up because they are already doing me a great service watching him I won't make their favor any tougher. I always figured out how to make it as easy as possible on them. It's just how I am, I hate to ask favors of people in the first place so I'm not going to make it harder on them.
