Strange question and maybe a bit morbid so proceed with caution.

After cremation does the remains still have that person’s smell?

The reason I ask is I have my husband’s ashes and I put them in a drawer close to the floor and the cat he loved and pampered the most lays right next to the drawer constantly.

I’ve had the drawer (it’s actually a shelf with a drawer at the bottom) for a good 5 years and it’s been in the exact same place since we moved in back in November. Nothing has changed except that about 6 weeks ago I put his ashes in that drawer.

Do you think it’s just a coincidence? Or does she somehow smell him?

How often does she do it?
I could theorize on something.
Theres an article by wag that says dogs can smell the difference between dog and human ashes.
Maybe cats can smell ashes too.

Often. Every night almost and even during the day I’ll find her right there by the drawer.

Then yeah I'd say she can smell the ashes.
Poor kitty.

I'd get one of those little burlap sacks that catnip comes in and save some for her. Put it in her bed. She'll love it.

What are his ashes kept in? My oldest cat had a special bond with late hubby. Since I brought his urn home almost 5yrs ago. He's been neutral about it. Now if I watch a video of him playing guitar, he will come up, and want to watch. He recognizes his guitar sound.
The oranges of the island are like blazing fire
Amongst the emerald boughs
And the lemons are like the paleness of a lover
Who has spent the night crying.

My soul was ripped to shreds on 10/27/14

In the box that it came in, i believe it’s plastic.
