Why not set some boundaries.... *Each evening after homework, showers, chores, etc., you may spend your remaining free time as you wish (tv, computer, video games, etc.) until bedtime* ??

This. I must be a giant bitch because neither of mine would even think to refuse to do something I have told them to do or fight me about homework because they already know they will lose AND they will be punished. I honestly can't understand when parents say their kid refuses to do something. Why does the kid think refusal is an option. lol
