Thank you so much on both counts, Sassy. He's on the very slow recovery road and a lot has changed for him, including having to resign from his job. Just cannot do that type of work anymore.

LOTS of changes for our little family but we're getting there. :)

Thanks again!

I hope he gets better soon. I can look up some recipes for you if you want.

My husband was admitted to the hospital on October 23rd with COPD, CHF, type 2 Diabetes, and CHD.

He's been home since this Wednesday and on a "Life Vest," which is an external difibrillator along with oxygen (presently). He's got a long way to go to beginning to get well or at a place where he can live a little longer.

VERY scary times for our family and I am learning about the do's/don'ts of eating for him. Low sodium, no sugar, and watching for those those saturated fats in foods.

I'll hopefully get a chance to come back online again to see if there's any recipes for THIS type of diet.

Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :) :)

I love that you've added the fat and especially the sodium counts. He's allowed only up to 2,000 mgs of sodium a day, and I'm learning to finally label read and get to know WHAT adds sodium and what doesn't.

Thanks again!

You're very welcome.
That eating well site really has a lot of good recipes but you do have to scroll down and read the amount of fat, sodium and sugar before cooking. Especially if he has 3 or more small meals a day....you have to keep track of his intake.
I hope your family has a great Thanksgiving and your dh continues to recover swiftly as possible

Classic Turkey Gravy
Making the most-flavorful gravy is easy: Don't discard the giblet bag inside the turkey! Simply make your own broth by simmering the neck and giblets with classic Thanksgiving herbs while the turkey cooks, then combine the broth with the pan drippings and an easy-to-make roux.
