I would have done the same. I would have gone out of my way to accommodate what I feel is a reasonable thing. It would have meant a lot to the kids too.
It would have meant a lot to the kids to be woken up earlier than normal, to rush out of the house and drive for 50 minutes before the school day even starts? My kids would be PISSED. Lol. Mom can go to them. Why would you put your kids through that on the first day of school??

She should have made the effort. It's out of the way and would have required the kids get up at least an hour early. If she wanted to see the kids she should have gotten up early and driven to see them.
She doesn't have a car. She does not have that choice.
Uber, taxi, bus would have all worked
Not everywhere has those things and even if she does, if she doesn't have a car she probably also can't afford the cost of an hour long uber ride.

The buses are $4 for a day pass. She is not broke and could easily pay for that or an uber

So she should have come over the night before and had pizza with them. Its not up to her Kids to account for her bad decisions

If it meant that much to her she would have put money back. You know ahead of time of the first day of school. Those kids shouldn't sacrifice sleep for her benefit

What does that have to do with anything?

The kids did not want to have to wake up more than an hour earlier than normal. They are not at all upset that they didn't see their mom. I don't know many high schoolers that would actually be upset by that
Mine would have.

My kids would want to see their other parent if at all possible and are already up at least 2hrs before school on first day anyways.
