Would you slash your own tire so it would be covered by insurance?
It still wouldn't be worth it to me. If this ever gets back to him, it's going to cost him a lot more than a new set of tires.Anonymous 1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 12:27 pmThey replaced all his tires with no chargeAnonymous 3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 12:22 pmI don't know if it's different for tires, but our deductable is $500, and that's close to what we paid last time we replaced all 4 tires.Anonymous 1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 11:39 am
I am not sure what the deductible is if there even is one. On my policy glass and tires do not have a deductible. Replacing two tires would have been about $550 out of his pocket
Also, the insurance company may only pay the value of the old tires, not the full cost to replace them with new tires. If your tires are a few years old, you still might have to cover a large portion out of pocket.
There is no way for them to ever find out.Anonymous 3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 7:20 pmIt still wouldn't be worth it to me. Insurance fraud and making a false police report are the type of things that eventually bite a person in the ass.
I agree it's probably unlikely at this point, but it's not impossible. What if the police catch the guys who did it and they claim they only slashed 3 tires?
The police report says 4 tires have been tampered with.Anonymous 3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 7:32 pmI agree it's probably unlikely at this point, but it's not impossible. What if the police catch the guys who did it and they claim they only slashed 3 tires?

Again there is no way for the insurance company to ever find out
Did he make a police report? It doesn't matter if the insurance company finds out. It's still wrong.
